Personal Projects and Endeavors

Chess

I enjoy playing chess and am part of a club at Wayfair that plays weekly games and monthly tournaments. Even though I've been playing for a few years now, I'm still quite bad.

Emacs

I've started using emacs as my primary text editor and I'm slowly moving away from using anything else. I still default to using vim when necessary and I'm still using git from the command line. I made the choice to use emacs when I noticed that more and more of my work is done through the web browser. Emacs is an effort to do more and more things in one single workspace and avoid opening a browser as much as possible

Clojure

I'm finally getting around to learning clojure - I'be been meaning to do so for years. While I've been picking up emacs it seemed to make sense to pick up a lisp. I'm very much in the very early stages of learning the language but so far using the koans

Programming languages

I've always found programming languages fascinating. The idea that every language excels in certain areas and has weaknesses in others and how that effects the syntax and structure of the language is very interesting. In that vein I've familiarized myself with multiple programming languages (in order of proficiency): Python, PHP, Ruby (and RoR), Perl, Clojure, F#, Scala, Haskell

Poker

I love playing poker, though I rarely get to play anymore. For a short while I was a contributor to the free poker database
